TOP REASONS WHY EVERY COMPANY SHOULD BE ON TWITTER

Twitter is one of those sites that is a simple tool that if used properly can connect you with the rest of the world...below is a list of just a few reasons why we feel every company should have a twitter page.

  • VIRAL MARKETING
Twitter is all about spreading the word about a message, a link, a video, etc...anything you might want people to view basically. The reason people go to the site in the first place is either to promote, connect, or learn. My experience with the site is that you can connect very easily with the people you want to connect with if your message is of interest to them. RT's or Retweets are also a great way for organizations with large numbers of members to spread the word.
  • CONSISTENT MESSAGE
One of the key things in any sort of campaign whether advertising, political, grassroots, film, company, music, business project, or marketing for just about anything you can think of...is having a CONSISTENT MESSAGE. Official representatives of that organization can send out the Official Tweet for the Organization...and others can REPLY, RETWEET(Repost), or add to the FAVORITES.  REPLY allows the users or followers to engage in a conversation or ask questions. RETWEET allows followers or users of the site to repost the message to their own followers. FAVORITES of course is self explanatory in that it allows you to add it to your list of favorite posts for those special ones that you want all your followers to see.
  • HEADLINES & PRESS RELEASES
Since the site is all about posting links people are open to visiting the links you post. In other words it is best if you want people to visit your official site if you post the Title of the Press Release or Headline...that links back to your official site with an entry that is more than 140 characters so you can give more detail about your message and connect in a more in depth manner.
  • INCREASED EFFICIENCY
Most people do not have enough time in the day to get everything done...Twitter is great for those who are on the run and still want to spread the word about anything. 140 letters is not a lot to type...even from a Mobile Phone. Widgets can be used as well as the RSS(Real Simple Syndication) Feed to spread that information across many sites...simultaneously. One post...can go out to as many places as you are willing to set up...drawing all traffic back to the place you decide.

  • VERIFIED PROFILES
It wasn't long ago that people on the web did not want to be identified by their real name. Since Facebook that Username/Real Name thing has changed. People are now sharing more information about themselves than ever before...down to their daily routines, what they are eating, and sleeping habits. The point behind this is on Twitter you can see for some a thing called a Verified Profile...again pretty self explanatory...you know the person they say it is...is who you are talking to...or at least an official representative of that person.
A great way for people, companies, and organizations to connect, interact, and help spread the word. Especially with those who are very successful in their respective fields.

  • INTERACTIVE MARKETING
Creative uses of twitter can allow you to see what people are saying about you or your company and gives you the chance to respond accordingly...whether to praise or criticism. Many people use twitter to voice their opinions. Some have even used the site to communicate in starting a revolution in an effort to obtain their freedom. Being involved in addressing the concerns of customers or in some cases citizens is important for any company, country, or entity that wants to succeed. Doing so in a way that is professional and does it in a public forum shows that you are not scared of your critics but instead view their voices as an opportunity to improve the overall quality of products or services that you currently offer.
  • REAL TIME INFORMATION
True Story: One day I was sitting at my computer working...updating my twitter account. I saw a post from a friend in Santa Monica that said "Earthquake!!!" Keep in mind at that time I was only about 3 miles away at the time. I had not yet felt the earthquake that I saw the Tweet from...then all the sudden a second or two later...my building starts shaking.

USE OF TWITTER
@Screenname - The @ symbol with no space in between that and the name signifies the screenname of a profile and in a post acts as an active link to that profile.

#TrendingTopic or #Keyword - The # symbol opens your post up for anyone who searches for this term on Twitter. It also can add it to the Trending Topics on every Twitter users page if enough people post it.

LISTS
Lists can help in Forming Alliances, listing Sponsors, Donors, Valuable Resources, Employees, Key Players, or Board Members profiles and so on. Lists can also be integrated into Official Websites to provide a more interactive information experience for your site's visitors.
